GSARKAR’S CONTRIBUTION TO CRICKET IS HUGE – PROF. SHETTY
GAVASKAR XI CLINCH TITLE; AAYUSH SHETYE BEST BATSMAN
Mumbai: Dilip Vengsarkar has been running the Cricket Academy for the last 27 years, that has provided excellent platform and produced many cricketers to Mumbai. With three formats to play in recent times it’s important for the upcoming players to adjust quickly to different formats and perform. This can happen with experience but you must deliver in those 22 yards each time you play in such tournaments. He praised the Mumbai selectors for being present and watching the tournament every day. Sunil Gavaskar XI won the Dream 11 cup, organized by Dilip Vengsarkar Foundation. Aayush Shetye was declared as the best batsman of the tournament whereas Gajanan Narapgol was adjudged the best bowler of the tournament. Vedant Gore was awarded with best fielder award. Former India Captain Dilip Vengsarkar alongwith Prof. Ratnakar Shetty gave away the prizes.
Gavaskar XI who were bowled out yesterday for 213 runs today bundled out Ravi Shastri XI to 137 to take vital three points of first inning lead and also confirm the title. Off spinner Gajanan Narapgol was their trump card who took 6/28 to give his team most deserving victory. Only Smin Kini (28) and Daivik Save (52) showed some resistance for Shastri XI.
In another match Sachin Tendulkar declared their inning on overnight score of 299/7. While chasing this target Vengsarkar XI lost first 5 wickets for just 109 runs but thereafter Aayush Shetye (102) and Tanish Shetty (94) showed some gritty batting to put together 170 runs marathon partnership to confirm the first innings lead for their team. At the end of the play they made 302/7 in 82.2 overs.
