Mumbai: Over 650 citizens from across Mumbai participated in the massive tree plantation drive at Pramod navarkar Udyan in Kandivali East celebrating World Environment Day.
This was an initiative by mission green Mumbai supported by BMC Garden department where we had great time with citizens by planting 1555 saplings in 4 hours of morning activities starting 7 a.m.
600 trees were planted in urban miavaki forest to reduce the heat Island effect of Mumbai where 34 varieties of trees planted.
For protection of birds we planted 1000 + 5 + variety of saplings at the 700 M walking Periphery of the garden in a gap of two feet is..
The entire team of Garden department were present to monitor and supervise this initiative.
Students participation from 16 different education Institutions and also the cadets of NCC along with NSS team.
Initiative started at 7:00 a.m. with a swachhata initiative of collecting single use plastic from an around the garden premises where 1000 kg of garbage was collected in 1 hour.
It was a great experience with lot of love and passion to work for mother earth with shell continue around the year.
