CIDCO completes the transfer of mangroves lands
Transfers 908 Ha mangrove land to forest department

Navi Mumbai: CIDCO completed the process of transfer of a total of about 908 hectares of land under Mangroves on 24th May 2022. Out of this, about 279 hectares of land in the possession of CIDCO and has given no objection for balance 629 hectares in CIDCO area under mangroves to the Forest Department, Government of Maharashtra. Shri. Aditya Thackeray, Hon’ble Minister of Environment, GOM in the meeting held on 18th April 2022, gave instructions to CIDCO regarding the transfer of land under the mangrove to the forest department.
Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, VC & MD, CIDCO, Mr. Virendra Tiwari, APCCF, Mangrove Cell, Maharashtra, Dr. Kailas Shinde Joint MD, CIDCO, Mr. Ravi Kumar, Chief Planner, CIDCO, Mr. Adarsh Reddy, DCF, Mangrove Cell were prominently present during the occasion.
CIDCO has always cooperated in environmental protection, conservation initiatives and sustainable development. As a part of this, under the guidance the of Shri. Eknath Shinde, Hon’ble Urban Development Minister, GOM and following the High court orders, the mangrove land has been handed over to the Forest Department.
About 1458 Ha. area of Mangroves Land in Thane taluka under CIDCO possession has already been transferred to Forest Department in the past. As per the directions given by the Environment Minister, the process of handing over mangroves land of about 908 Ha. has been completed by CIDCO. Out of this, 279 Ha. of land is in the possession of CIDCO and the balance mangrove land is private and hence given NOC. So far, CIDCO has handed over 1258 Ha. of mangrove lands in Panvel & Uran tahsils and with this, CIDCO has completed the process of handing over all mangrove lands in Navi Mumbai.
